What does this calculator measure?
It calculates an ideal two-dimensional projectile scenario from the initial speed, launch angle, and release height you enter, using standard gravity of 9.80665 meters per second squared and assuming no air resistance and a level landing datum. The result is not an actual or official shot-put distance.
How is the launch angle used?
The launch angle above horizontal is converted to radians by multiplying by pi divided by 180. The horizontal and vertical components of the entered speed are then used to find flight time, apex height, and horizontal displacement.
Where does the horizontal displacement start?
Horizontal displacement starts at the release point, not at an official measurement origin. The scenario starts at x equals 0 and the entered release height, and each calculated output is rounded independently to two digits after the decimal point.
