How to use this calculator

Formula

Tip amount:

$tip = bill \times tip\ percentage$

Per person split:

$per\ person = (bill + tip) \div people$

For example, an 80 dollar bill with an 18 percent tip adds 14.40 dollars. The total is 94.40 dollars, and four people splitting evenly pay 23.60 dollars each.

Practical notes

Tip customs vary by country, service type, and whether a service charge is already included.
