What each calculator does
The half marathon pace calculator derives pace from a target finish time over the standard 21.0975 km half-marathon distance. Pace per mile and per kilometer come from dividing the total duration in raw seconds by the fixed distance, and even cumulative splits are displayed to the nearest second — with a 2:00:00 target, 7,200 seconds ÷ 21.0975 km ≈ 341.3 seconds per kilometer, displayed as 5:41 per km (about 9:09 per mile), with the final partial split summing back to the entered total. Even pacing is an arithmetic plan, not a prediction: course measurement, terrain, weather, stops, and individual capacity affect actual splits.
The vertical speed calculator takes a signed vertical distance in meters or feet and an elapsed time in minutes and seconds. It converts the distance exactly — the international foot is exactly 0.3048 meter — divides by raw elapsed time, and reports neutral per-second, per-minute, and per-hour rates. Positive and negative values indicate direction only. Terrain, horizontal distance, pauses, and personal capability are outside the calculation, and a nonzero rate whose supported fixed-precision values would all round to zero is reported as too small to display rather than as a zero result.
