- What is the 4 to 1 ladder rule?
- The planning worksheet uses a 4:1 height-to-setback geometry: for every four units of support height, the base is set one unit back from the wall. The entered extension above the support height is added to the sloped rail length.
- How is the purchase length rounded?
- Calculations retain full floating-point precision until the labeled display step, and the displayed purchase length is rounded upward to one decimal place. Counts and packages use an explicit upward ceiling only where a whole purchase unit is required.
- Does the calculator guarantee a safe setup?
- No. Geometry alone cannot determine a safe ladder, duty rating, setup, access method, or regulatory compliance. Site conditions and applicable requirements need qualified evaluation, and the page rejects inputs that would present a misleading result.
