What does dew point tell me?
Dew point tells you the temperature at which the current air would become saturated if cooled at constant moisture. It is a strong indicator of actual water vapor content, so it often explains muggy weather, overnight dew, window condensation, and how much cooling a dehumidifier must overcome.
How is dew point different from relative humidity?
Relative humidity changes whenever temperature changes because it compares current moisture with the air's saturation capacity. Dew point is tied more directly to the amount of water vapor present. A warm afternoon and cool morning can have very different relative humidity but nearly the same dew point.
What dew point feels comfortable outdoors?
Many people find dew points below about 55 degrees Fahrenheit comfortable, the 60s increasingly humid, and the 70s oppressive, though acclimation, wind, sun, and activity matter. The calculator does not assign comfort categories, but the dew point can be paired with heat index for hot-weather safety decisions.
