What each calculator does

The solar panel energy scenario calculator takes usable panel area, panel geometry, panel nameplate rating, and two user-identified annual specific-yield values in kWhac/kWdc/year from a named report or assessment. The panel count is the floor of usable area divided by area per panel, DC nameplate capacity is the count times the panel rating, and each annual-energy scenario is that capacity times its entered yield. The tool adds no weather, orientation, shading, thermal, inverter, clipping, or performance-ratio effects — the yield values must already embody whatever effects their source included — and it performs no location lookup. The yield values are user-defined comparable scenarios, not an OverCalculator confidence interval.

The electricity cost calculator is row based: each appliance row has a name, watts, hours per day, and quantity. It converts each row with watts × hours × quantity ÷ 1000 to daily kWh, sums the rows, and multiplies by your dollars-per-kWh rate for daily cost. The monthly result uses a 30-day planning month and the yearly result uses 365 days, and each row also gets a per-appliance monthly breakdown. In its default example — a 150 W refrigerator running 24 hours, eight 10 W LED bulbs for 6 hours, and a 1,500 W air conditioner for 5 hours at $0.17/kWh — the totals are 11.58 kWh per day, about $1.97 per day, $59.06 per month, and $718.54 per year.
