The daylight hours calculator estimates solar declination with a cosine approximation from day of year, combines it with latitude to compute an hour-angle argument, and converts the hour angle to daylight length, with sunrise and sunset placed symmetrically around local solar noon at 12:00. Above 66.5 degrees latitude it handles polar day, returning 24 hours, and polar night, returning 0 hours, with special solstice checks. Because longitude and time zone are omitted, the displayed times are solar times, not civil clock times. The worked example for latitude 51.5074 degrees north on June 21 gives about 16.4058 hours of daylight, formatted as 16 hours and 24 minutes, with local solar sunrise at 03:48 and sunset at 20:12.
