It computes average speed in meters per second, pace per 100 meters (100 meters divided by that speed), equivalent pool lengths based on the pool length you enter, and constant-pace projected times for longer distances. The projections assume the same average pace and do not adjust for stroke, and starts, turns, rests, pool measurement, and timing method count only insofar as they are present in the elapsed time you enter.

The Running Pace Calculator lets you choose whether to solve pace, elapsed time, or distance, then enter the other two quantities. It works in miles and kilometers using the exact international mile conversion of 1.609344 kilometers, so it can produce a pace per mile or per kilometer, estimate a race time from a distance and target pace, or check how far a block of time at a steady pace covers. Stops, course measurement, terrain, and conditions are outside the arithmetic.

When to use which
