Force Calculator
Convert force between newtons, pound-force, and kilogram-force. Enter the Value, choose the From unit, choose the To unit, and the calculator returns the converted force plus equivalents in all supported units. It is helpful for mechanics, physics homework, fastener loads, equipment ratings, and translating metric and US customary specifications.
Force basics
In SI units, force is measured in newtons. One newton is the force needed to accelerate a one-kilogram mass at one meter per second squared.
The converter uses newtons as the base unit:
For example, 100 N converted to pound-force is 100 ÷ 4.44822, or about 22.4809 lbf. A 10 kgf load equals 10 × 9.80665 = 98.0665 N.
Quick references
| Force | Equivalent |
|---|---|
| 1 lbf | 4.44822 N |
| 1 kgf | 9.80665 N |
| 1 N | 0.224809 lbf |
Do not confuse mass and force. For acceleration inputs, use the acceleration converter. For related mechanics, the torque converter, pressure converter, and newton to joules calculator may help.
