Natural gas arrives in more than one unit, and the two calculators on this site answer slightly different questions about the same fuel. CCF is a volume — one hundred cubic feet of gas — while therms are energy: one therm equals 100,000 BTU of heat. Translating between them requires a heat-content factor, because the energy in a fixed volume of gas varies with composition, pressure, and temperature. The genuine choice between these two calculators is scope: do you need to convert across many natural gas units under one consistent planning factor, or match a specific utility bill whose heat-content factor is printed on the page?
Both pages default to the same planning assumption — 1 CCF = 1.037 therms — but they differ in how many units they cover and how much control you have over the factor.
What each calculator does
The Natural Gas Converter handles six units: therms, CCF, MCF, cubic meters, kWh, and MMBtu. It normalizes every input to therms first, then converts from therms to the selected output using a fixed table of therm factors: 1 CCF is 1.037 therms, 1 MCF is 10.37 therms, 1 MMBtu is 10 therms, and 1 therm is 29.3001 kWh. The default example converts 10 therms to 293.001 kWh and shows the same value in CCF, MCF, cubic meters, and MMBtu. It is the tool for comparing gas volume, billing energy, and electric energy under one assumed heating value.
The CCF to Therms Calculator is narrower and bill-oriented. It takes two inputs: natural gas volume in CCF and a heat-content factor in therms per CCF that you can edit. The primary result is therms; supporting rows show cubic feet, BTU, and kWh equivalents. With the default factor, 10 CCF becomes 10.37 therms, 1,000 cubic feet, 1,037,000 BTU, and about 303.91 kWh. If your utility prints a different factor, you enter that number and the result follows your bill instead of a generic assumption.

When to use which
Use the Natural Gas Converter when you are comparing energy across units: translating an appliance label, a fuel contract in MMBtu, or a tariff in therms into one common basis such as kWh. Use the CCF to Therms Calculator when your bill or tariff states a heat-content factor and you want the result to reflect that number rather than the built-in default.
Neither calculator settles a gas bill dispute. Billing-grade conversion can depend on pressure, temperature, meter correction, gas composition, and the utility’s published heat content, and neither page handles propane or liquefied natural gas. Both also warn against treating 1 CCF as exactly 1 therm, and the small kWh-per-therm difference between the pages reflects the two therm conventions they each document, so results copied from one page should carry the assumption used.
