Every conversion passes through square meters using exact dimensional factors — square foot is 0.3048², acre is 43,560 × 0.3048², hectare is 10,000. The target equals the value times the source factor divided by the target factor, with results rounded only after conversion.

When to use which
Use the acreage calculator when you can pace or measure the sides of a rectangular lot and want the acre figure — a building lot, a hay field, or a subdivision parcel. It is the tool that produces the 43,560-based arithmetic from raw dimensions, and its page notes that for a known area rather than side lengths, the area converter is the better starting point.
Use the area converter when the area is already on paper — a deed says 37.5 acres, a listing says 0.41 acres, or a land trust describes a 640-acre section — and you need it restated for a metric audience. Choose acres as the source and hectares or square meters as the target, and the converter applies the exact factors.

Limits and disclaimer
Both calculators are unit and arithmetic tools, not boundary surveys. The acreage calculator is a rectangle approximation: curves, slopes, easements, and deeded boundaries are not inferred, and land records usually use horizontal mapped area rather than surface area along hillsides. The area converter cannot measure anything — it assumes the input area is correct, so a rounded listing acreage should not be converted as though it were a surveyed value. Negative inputs, unknown units, and results too large to represent are rejected by both. Neither page renders legal, tax, or survey conclusions; keep the precision of the source document and preserve surveyed values for legal work.
