Fluid Ounces to Pounds Conversion
A US fluid ounce is volume, while a pound is mass in this calculation. Density connects them. The calculator deliberately limits presets to a transparent water approximation and a custom value rather than presenting unsupported material averages.
Formula
The water option treats water as 1 kg/L for an explicit approximation. From the exact US fluid-ounce volume and pound definition, its factor is:
At 16 US fl oz, that approximation gives about 1.0432 lb. The supporting rows multiply pounds by 16 for avoirdupois ounces and by 0.45359237 for kilograms. Negative volume, nonpositive density, unknown options, nonnumeric values, and invalid numeric results are rejected.
Use the right density
Choose Custom density for any liquid other than the stated water approximation. Density can change with temperature, composition, concentration, and pressure. Obtain the value from the applicable specification or measurement, expressed in lb/US fl oz. Do not enter imperial fluid ounces, and add packaging weight separately when estimating shipment mass.
