Celsius to Fahrenheit Calculator
Convert temperature readings in either direction between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The form includes a Conversion Type selector and a Temperature input, then returns the converted value to two decimal places. Use it for weather, cooking, travel, thermostats, laboratory notes, and comparing recipes or forecasts from different countries.
Conversion formulas
Celsius to Fahrenheit:
°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius:
°C = (°F - 32) × 5/9
The multiplication factor changes the degree size, and the 32-degree offset accounts for the different zero points. For example, 20°C becomes 20 × 9 ÷ 5 + 32 = 68°F. In reverse, 68°F becomes (68 − 32) × 5 ÷ 9 = 20°C.
Common reference points
| Celsius | Fahrenheit | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 0°C | 32°F | Water freezes |
| 20°C | 68°F | Comfortable room temperature |
| 37°C | 98.6°F | Approximate body temperature |
| 100°C | 212°F | Water boils at sea level |
For science work that needs absolute temperature, use the Celsius to Kelvin calculator or the broader temperature converter. For heat and appliance calculations, the energy converter may be useful too.
