What each calculator does
The Moving Box Calculator starts with a base box mix per 100 square feet — 3 small, 2 medium, 1 large, and 0.5 extra large — and rounds each size up. Room count adjusts density through a multiplier clamped between 0.85 and 1.25, lifestyle applies 0.7, 1.0, or 1.4, and houses use 1.2 while apartments use 1.0. Special item switches add targeted boxes, then every size receives a 10 percent buffer and is rounded up again. Estimated box cost uses editable per-box prices of $2, $3, $4, and $5 for small through extra large.
The Moving Cost Calculator chooses a base cost from a home-size table: local or long-distance bases for studio, 1 bedroom, 2 to 3 bedrooms, and 4 or more bedrooms. A move over 50 miles is long distance and adds 0.75 dollars per mile. Peak season multiplies the base by 1.25. Packing service adds a fixed amount by home size, and specialty items add fixed allowances when their switches are selected. The final estimate is base cost plus packing service plus special items, and the result also includes packing, loading, and transport time estimates.
